The portrait was created from the photo shown. The key was to show the happiness this couple shares, without a distracting back grown.
Another example of capturing a child “in motion.” They are most natural then.
As with other paintings of young children, I prefer to work from candid photo shots as apposed to formal and stiff portrait photos. Children much prefer to be in motion, all the time. They should be painted that way as well.
This was a painting inspired by a family photo. I simply used Sepia color to match the spirit of the black and white photo image.
Another case where a sepia painting is preferred to color to better show the “feel” of the original black and white photo.
Tyler is now in college. He was a fierce competitor as a soccer player in high school, and shows the same passion as a student of Nursing.
I enjoyed painting this picture because of the little girl engrossed in her favorite activity at that moment.
